…barn, well actually three partridges, across the lane where we keep some firewood, sheltering from the storm. Mmm, must work on those lyrics.

  1. Do you think they are wild ones, Sarah. or “escapees” from a farm? We had some of the latter a couple of years ago – they sat around at the top of our drive and tormented the dogs!

    • We think they are wild because we’ve seen a larger flock down the road as well as some up the ridge behind our village. People keep a wide range of animals hidden in their barns, so they could be daring free-rangers! With trigger-happy hunters twice a week, dogs and uncontrolled cat populations, they’re doing pretty well.
