We’re here!

We’ve made it! The journey was uneventful and better than I thought it would be – the thought of 24 hours on a ferry and 8 hours driving across Spain didn’t really excite me, but it was fine.

The good news is that, bar an hour or so when we were unpacking the car, we’ve had no rain. In fact, we’ve had a couple of days of bright sunshine and have been able to sit outside soaking it up. Which is just as well, because the bad news is that it is still a bit chilly so our house is absolutely freezing. The landlord has taken pity on us and given us another heater, but we’ll be pleased when the weather warms up a bit.

We also have no phone or data signal at the house – I’m typing this from the other side of the mountain. Again, the landlord is going out of his way to help and is arranging to have internet installed (yay!) and tomorrow we will see about getting a Portuguese SIM card which works where we are.

So more news to come, but for the time being, I’m off – we are doing a bit of exploring to a) get to know our local area and b) get us out of the house – it’s colder in that out!

  1. Welcome to your new, temporary home. Have a pastel de nata for us! Remember, there is no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing. And if all else fails, pull on a beanie and go to bed. Has the hound found any wildlife yet?

We love to hear from people, so please feel free to comment!
